Hi, I’m Bonnie Sheldon
I have always been passionate about helping others and myself achieve wellness, happiness, and fulfillment. My journey has taken me through various fields and roles, from dance to business, ministry, and EFT. Along the way, I have learned from pioneers and experts, overcome challenges and obstacles, and touched the lives of thousands of people. As a compassionate empath, I understand the difficulties life can bring and co-work with my clients to achieve a sense of self-mastery and ease of empowered mind and movement.
My journey to EFT and energy work began with a profound healing journey that started even before birth. Born with a pelvic congenital disability, I underwent a traumatic and medically disastrous surgery at age four. This led to years of confusion and unrecognized pain, as no doctor or family member could name what I was experiencing. But I didn’t let these challenges define me. Instead, I used them as fuel to propel me forward.
I was fortunate to join the first class of women at Princeton University as a University Scholar, just an hour from New York City, the world’s dance capital. I faced difficulties with my dance performance due to physical disability caused by problems at birth. Still, I did not give up – I discovered the new, as yet un-named field of Somatics, which taught me how to experience and heal my body from within. I trained with major contemporary dance companies and started my own to showcase my choreography. I also studied with somatics pioneer Irmgard Bartenieff, receiving my Certification as a Laban Movement Analyst.
My journey continued with studies under Moshe Feldenkrais and Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, learning embodied anatomy. These experiences led me to open my somatics studio in SoHo. I later taught at Hunter College, worked as a dance therapist at Bellevue Hospital, and taught choreography at Juilliard.
Dance was in my blood, but I yearned for a family. After meeting my beloved Greg, we married, and I transitioned from dance to business. My first venture was as a loan officer on Wall Street, but my creative streak led me to Young and Rubicam Brands, Inc., where I rose to Group Director. I brought Motrin over the counter as Advil and worked with brands like Adidas, Dr. Pepper, and General Foods.
I experienced a calling to return to service and pursued ministry, training at Union Theological Seminary and the School for Ministry of the S.E. Florida Episcopal Diocese. I worked as a minister at Trinity Cathedral in Miami, where I founded and directed a program for homeless families with disabled breadwinners. I helped 300 families a year achieve safe homes and financial independence. By this time, I had long been diagnosed with Systemic Sclerosis with a 6-month prognosis. Still, I had already outlived that prognosis repeatedly and felt a deep surge of life force within, enabling me to move beyond medical expectation.
However, unresolved physical issues became more acute with age, prompting me to seek alternative healing methods. I left the ministry for a wider theology. Already a Reiki Master with yoga training and having studied indigenous and contemporary shamanism, I knew there were other paths to healing and spiritual thought.
Throughout my life, whenever I was even able to only sit in my wheelchair, I’ve loved children and deeply loved teaching children dance. I developed a K-12 Dance/Movement program at a prestigious NYC Quaker School in my early dance days that still exists today, and have taught hundreds of children technique and choreography, producing events and television programs.
My life took a pivotal turn when I attended my first EFT workshop while virtually paralyzed in a wheelchair. I learned to unwind my life story through EFT, understand my reactions to past pains, and achieve real healing. The transformative power of EFT not only healed me but also ignited a deep sense of purpose, leading me to share this life-changing methodology with others.
Discovering EFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques, also known as ‘Tapping’, was a turning point in my life. I became an EFT Practitioner as EFT became scientifically validated and found immense joy in helping people overcome various issues. From veterans with PTSD in the Wounded Warrior Project to the hundreds of women in the Heartbreak Rescue program, I found deep satisfaction in seeing them rebuild their lives.
My lifelong interests in spirituality, personal growth, physical health, and fitness have always guided me. I began meditating 40 years ago when I met my guru, and I have been returning to that still place ever since.
Today, I live a joyful life with Greg, my husband of over 40 years, in our tropical paradise in Florida, along with our animal companion, Charlie. Helping people has always been my calling, and I am more excited than ever to work with the disciplines I love—EFT, somatics, dance, and meditation—to help others live better lives and experience the joy that awaits us all.
Developing and implementing Corporate Wellness Programs is a new and quickly expanding endeavor, as my newly created team works to help employers and employees experience an ever more healthy workplace, reducing stress, improving health, and at the same time improving profitability.
Teaching is not new to me, but training people who seek a new profession or want to add EFT to their therapy or coaching toolkit has become a passion of mine. I see the need and the incredible benefits of EFT. After serving over 9,000 clients in my life, I’ve come to believe that if everyone had access to Tapping, the world could find peace. This is the vision of EFT’s creator, Gary Craig, and I am proud to carry his traditions forward, adding my contributions and serving with love.
